Bob Helm

In July 2012, a bench was placed in McNamara Park in honor of Bob Helm - Bob was a valuable community volunteer and was a member of the Genoa Township Parks Advisory Board from 2009 to 2012.  Bob always enjoyed the trails at McNamara Park and enjoyed speaking to residents along the trail.  He will be missed by the staff and volunteers of the township.

Darlene Phythyon

In July 2012, a bench was placed in McNamara Park in honor of Darlene Phythyon - The bench is a memorial to Darlene Phythyon, my wife and the mother to our daughters, Sara and Mollie.  Darlene loved her runs at McNamara Park and felt safe at the park.  She had begun to run early in 2010 and enjoyed great results with her running program.  Unfortunately, after a 4.5 mile run on April 21st, 2011, she never made it to the car.  Her Life ended prematurely on the path.  Our intent is to put the bench at the spot where she dropped and to be able to visit the park and sit on or near the spot.  Bill Phythyon

Randy Raque

In July 2012, a bench was placed in McNamara Park in honor of Randy Raque - The Raque girls (Donna, Rachel and Kelli) donated this bench as a gift for Randy Raque, our dad and husband, for Father's Day 2012.  Our family LOVES Genoa Township - it's not just a nice place to live, we think it is a GREAT place to live.  We especially love the parks and bike trails - so this bench is just a little way to give back to our wonderful community.

The Schechinger's Family

In July 2012, a bench was placed in McNamara Park in honor of the Schechinger Family - The Schechinger's moved to Genoa Township in 2003.  Joe Works for Wendy's Int'l and Sherri is a stay at home mom.  Their daughter, Claire, has attended school in GWT from grade school thru high school.  One of their favorite things about living here is the rural feel of the area and the lovely parks and trails.  They have spent many enjoyable hours volunteering for events in the parks and biking and walking the trails.  You are invited to sit on their bench, in McNamara Park, and enjoy a moment in their neighborhood like they have so many times.

Jerry Bennett

On May 11, 2011 a tree was planted to honor Jerry Bennett - our father, our husband, our grandpa, and our friend.  Jerry was a master gardener; there was not a plant he couldn’t grow.  He did a great job cultivating people as well.  We are all blessed to have known him.  He made this world a better place.  In addition to gardening Jerry painted, he hiked, he enjoyed scuba diving and bike riding, and he kept bees to help pollinate the many thousands of flowers he grew.  The oak tree is a great fit for dad.  It’s strong and beautiful, just as he was in this world.  The Bennett Family
