Karl R. Gebhardt was elected to the Board of Genoa Township Trustees in November 2009. Karl brings over 40 years of experience in business, public policy and government relations in both the public and private sector.
 
In addition to serving as Trustee, Karl is the Executive Director of the Ohio Lake Erie Commission and Deputy Director at the Ohio EPA. Prior to his current position, Karl was Deputy Director at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Earlier in his career, Karl served in several management positions at the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.
 
Karl’s private sector experience includes 12 years as owner of Gebhardt & Associates, a natural resource management, public policy-consulting and community relations firm. His firm represented a broad base of clients interested in conservation, land use, energy and agriculture. He also represented clients with interests in domestic and international economic development, participating in two trade missions to Israel.
 
Karl has been active in professional organizations and appointed to advisory councils including: Commissioner of the Great Lakes Commission, International Joint Commission Water Quality Board, The Ohio State University Rural-Urban Policy Advisory Council, Franklin University Public Administration Advisory Board, Hocking College Foundation Board, Big Walnut Economic Development Committee, The Ohio Chamber of Commerce Environmental Advisory Committee, University of Findlay’s Center of Excellence for Environmental Management National Advisory Board, the Ohio Township Association’s Coalition of Large Urban Township Board, the Delaware County Republican Committee, and is a founding Board Member of the Westerville Reserve Homeowners Association.
 
Karl earned a Master’s of Public Policy and Management from The Ohio State University, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Franklin University, and Associates in Applied Science in Natural Resources from Hocking College.
 
Karl and his wife, Susan, of 40 years, are parents to two daughters and the proud grandparents of five grandsons and a granddaughter. Karl and his wife are members of Heritage Christian Church. In his spare time Karl enjoys boating on Hoover Reservoir, hunting, fishing, golf, and nature photography.​
